It’s been years since Microsoft released a special edition mice. The last one was the Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse Special Edition released in 2004. Soon to be in stores is the Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 Special Edition in five fresh colors, complementing the current Slate (black) and Winter Blue finishes. Functionally the mice remains the same as the standard versions, with the standard three buttons with scroll wheel connected with a snap-in wireless receiver. Regardless, the new colors are:
- Pomegranate (red)
- Dragon fruit (dark pink)
- Aloe (green)
- Milk chocolate (brown)
- Creme brulee (khaki)
According to Microsoft, the color choices were inspired by “design and color trends found in today’s apparel, accessories and other consumer electronics.” But best of all, the new mice will be going for the same recommended retail price of US$29.95 as the standard versions. It will be available for sale at Best Buy in May and other stores in June.
